The Alexandrapol digital archive is a database of historical landmarks in Gyumri, which was called Alexandrapol during its heyday in the 19th century. This web site is the on-line version of the database. Content in the database is regularly updated with new items.

You can browse the archive using the interactive Historical Downtown Map, or narrow your results using our Advanced Search page. Results include detailed information about each building within a range of categories. Discover the “nooks and crannies” of our beautiful old city.

The Alexandrapol digital archive is implemented by the CITY RESEARCH CENTER NGO (CRC) based in Gyumri, Armenia. CRC’s mission is to support the rebirth of urban life and historical environment of the city, which was badly damaged during the Spitak earthquake in 1988. The database is an initial step towards these goals, pointing to the unique cultural icons in the city needing preservation and restoration.

The completion of the database is supported by UNDP and implemented in partnership with “Kumairi” museum preserve of Gyumri Municipality.
